City of Huldao, China, wanted to have a symbolic convention center, in order to provide ample spaces and to represent their recently increasing industrial developement. The Huldao Convention Center is designed to have a shape of equilateral triangle, in order to use remained space more efficiently. However, this triangle is not a simply extruded 3 dimensional volume, but a triangle, whose internal conception imitates a moebius strip; one surface from the basement entrance, is folded to meet up the other surface in the end on the roof, which was the same starting surface, whilst blurring the border between Inside and Outside. And One vertex of this triangle starts from the ground level, going slowly up to the other summit, so that it has an appearance of a forwarding ship, which will establish a particular identity of this region along the sea. This roof garden, attached to the ground level on the one edge, is opened to everybody towards the city in the back, providing the very publicity to this place. And continously twined line of building’s edge reminds of a traditional Chinese roof, giving a new sense of interpreting Chinese tradition into modernity.
